Psychotherapy and Counselling
In brief
The course leads to an Advanced Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy, a professional qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy. It focuses on integrating body, mind, emotion and spirit and is based on the work of Frank Lake and others.
At the core of the course is the belief that every person is unique and made up of body, mind, emotion and spirit, and that effective psychotherapy is a journey which both the client and the therapist undertake together. The call upon the therapist is to have the courage to venture into his or her own profound personal journey. You can read more about the course philosophy here.
The course is part time, requiring one day per week, plus two residentia l weekends per year for four years. It is based at Douai Abbey, near Reading, Berkshire.
Features of the course include:
-
study in the context of major theories of Freud, Jung, Object relations, Gestalt and the Transpersonal
-
an exploration of Pre and Peri-natal experience through Primal Integration work.
-
development of Psychotherapeutic skills through individual and group work.
